International FCI judge
I was born year 1963 in Rome, Italy, in a
“dog family”, my father was a judge and bred together with
mother Poodles with the prefix “Della Perla Grigia”.
Occupation: general manager
My affix “Di San Gimignano” was
recognized by the Italian Kennel Club in the end of 80's. San
Gimignano is a beautiful medieval
town in Toscana. At that time I bred Poodles, the lines came
from England, from Tiopepi Kennel. I began to breed
and show Chihuahuas year 1996 after marrying a Chihuahua
breeder Tuula Lehtinen-Cochetti (Misty Meadow’s Chihuahuas). I
have won many Championship titles with my Chihuahuas including
World Winners 2000 and 2001.
I became a judge in year 1993. My
first breed was Poodles.
I have at the moment the right to judge

Being
a judge is not an easy task. People love
you and speak good about you if they win, otherwise for them
you don't understand anything. It's really rare to find
objective people. Of course you can do mistakes but the
principal thing is to be honest. I think it's the main point
for to be a judge, of course one must have a good eye to dogs
too.
I prefer to judge abroad.
There you don't know anyone and you enjoy more. I like very
much the system that the scandinavian people use. I'm glad to
have judged there often. They are very well organized and they
have a very good level in toydogs. Many of 9th group breeds
have beautiful speciments: Poodles, Bichons, Papillons,
Tibetan Spaniels, Chihuahuas. Their breeding program I value
much: they give much attention to the sound construction.
On June 24th 2000 I had the
pleasure and honour to judge the Standard Poodles in the World
Show in Milan. There was present very high quality Poodles in
the blacks and whites. Excellent coats that were well trimmed.
I was extremely happy later to see my BOB winner white
Standard Poodle (a male bred in Finland) win the group and
later become Res-BIS from 15.000 dogs entered. In the silver
and apricot Poodles I found some nice speciments, but in
general the coats were too soft and not elastic. For sure it
was a great experience that gave me big emotions!!
